CUP 2024

3D ANIMATION | 2024

I had the privilege of contributing to the inaugural Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, collaborating with the amazing and talented people at Possible Productions. My role spanned from the initial look development stages through to the final production of content for various screen displays at the event.

CHAMPIONS REVEAL

I was responsible for developing the visual design for the champions reveal segment of the ceremony. Leveraging the circular shape of the screen, I created an arched design with a runway to produce a forced perspective effect for key broadcast camera angles.

Additionally, an outer circular element was incorporated to enhance and complement the primary content.

Additional electricity effects were developed by Serjan Burlak to enhance this scene. To allow for greater flexibility in compositing, we decided to separate the animation and effects into distinct intro, loop, and outro clips.

GLOBAL COALESCENCE

A central theme of the show was to celebrate the gathering of players from diverse nationalities worldwide. I was responsible for developing a visual concept of global unity, showcasing teams from around the globe converging at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh.

Below is some of the lookdev process for this content. From initial references, to style frames, to final animation block out.

INITIAL CONCEPTS

COLOR VARIATION

To better align with the evolving visual language of the EWC brand, the team decided to pivot these visuals toward a solid metal aesthetic. Below are some initial concepts exploring this direction, as well as an animation lockout:

VOLUMETRIC ASSETS

This project also featured multiple motorized volumetric LED blocks that could be arranged in various configurations throughout the show. I was responsible for creating a range of content assets to be used on these blocks at different points in the event.

The technical team at Possible developed an ingenious solution in Cinema 4D, utilizing Fields and Vertex Data to dynamically map any object intersecting with the volumetric LED geometry.

ARCHIVED LOOKDEV

Shown below are some compelling early-stage concepts developed for the project that, unfortunately, were not implemented due to overarching project pivots
